BERLIN — Belarus has opened its first logistics center to supply Belarus with the supplies needed to meet a growing demand for the country’s gas, a country official said Wednesday.

Borat International Logistics has leased the facility, which will be used to supply the Belarusian government with liquefied natural gas, according to a statement from the state-owned gas giant.

The company will also handle the gas import duties on the gas, the statement said.

The facility is located in the Belarus capital of Belgorod.

It is one of several liquefying natural gas fields that Belarus is seeking to secure in its energy sector.

In December, Belarus signed a deal with China to export natural gas to China, after it had failed to secure a deal for Russian gas from Russia.
