‘The Office’ Star Joins ‘Parks and Recreation’ For Season 7
On Wednesday, actress JoJo Fletcher and Parks and Recreation creator Chris Licht revealed that their Parks and Rec spinoff will premiere next year.
Fletcher, who plays Tina Fey, has a recurring role on the show, and Licht confirmed that he will also return to the Parks universe for the series’ seventh season.
“Parks is the show that got me started,” Fletcher told Entertainment Weekly.
“I am so excited to be on Parks, and I can’t wait to see how it all goes!”
Licht confirmed the news in an interview with Variety.
“It’s going to be a new season, it’s going a different direction, and we’re going to make it as fun as possible for everybody,” Licht said.
“Chris Licht is the guy that put me in this position, and he is the genius behind Parks.”
The Parks and Recreations spinoff follows a group of characters who get stranded on a small island called “Parks,” which has an all-white cast and crew.
Licht and Fletcher, whose other Parks roles include The Flash, have been teasing the spinoff for some time.
In a recent Instagram post, Licht explained that they wanted to take a different approach.
“I love Parks and I love Parks fans,” Lichts post read.
“That’s why I’ve been playing in all the Parks and Re-runs for a long time.
And now I am finally getting to write the show with Chris Lichting.
That’s why we’re doing it.
I want to make the most fun Parks possible.”
Parks will return for season 7 on January 16, 2018.

“That’s going do great for the fans and I’m excited to have all of them back together again,” LICHTER told EW.
“But we’re not even going to start shooting until next year.”
“Parenthood” star JoJo has also been vocal about the need for a Parks spinoff.

I love the cast, the crew, and the show.”
